The Giants are Headed to the Superbowl

This week in the addition they widened the door between the old basement and the new basement so that the heating duct was not taking up most of the doorway. They also started the wiring and the installation of the lighting fixtures. There is not much to see, but here are some pictures:

The Giants Win ! ! !

I was so busy celebrating the Giants victory over the Cowboys last night I forgot to update the blog.

Here are some pictures of the progress made last week.

They installed the new Bilco doors providing easy access to the new basement.




The roof was installed on the addition.


The framing was completed in the basement and they added the venting for the heat and air conditioning for the basement and the new room above it

The final picture is from the current basement looking towards the new room. They cut through to the new basement and added a new wall on the left side (or at least framed the wall).

January 6, 2008

The back bay window has been removed. The old back of the house has also been removed. A new beam was installed to support the master bedroom.

A temporary wall was put up to insulate the house as best as possible until the windows arrive later in January for the new addition. This is what our family room currently looks like:

Another week of big progress.

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful

Its been just over two weeks and there has not been much visible progress. The wet and snowy weather has delayed some of the next steps in the process therefore there are no additional pictures on this post. The next steps planned include:
- Backfilling the dirt around the new basement
- Pouring the floor for the new basement
- Starting to work on the framing for the addition

We are hoping that the weather will be a little more cooperative (although probably still cold) and that some of these next steps can begin this week.

The Walls on the Basement are Up.

The blocks arrived for the basement walls on a rainy day early in the week.



A fork lift took them from the street to the back of the house. The grass has seen better days.




They started work and got quite a bit done in one day






They came back and finished it up the next day. It's really starting to look like something now.
